Stage is a cannabis dispensary in Portland, Maine
The owners established the shop and had a logo created, but were unsure how to establish the brand’s connection to music. I was brought in to revamp their marketing approach & establish the foundation for the brand’s connection to local music.
Streamlined. Modern. To The Point.
Defining the brand was paramount in this project. Stage wanted to be more than just a dispensary, their goal was to donate a portion of their sales each month in a focused effort to shine a light on local musicians and provide a platform for them to grow their individual followings. By dividing the website’s menu top menu structure between “Cannabis” & “Music” it provides an immediate visual understanding of the importance of music to the Stage brand. Of course cannabis is their business, but they wanted music to be equally a part of their story.

Content is King.
My idea was that Stage would partner with local musicians on a monthly basis and provide our social media platforms & brick and mortar store to boost their upcoming show or event. I further concluded that high quality content is the greatest value this business can provide for local artists. This would give artists tools to market themselves. Tools they can keep using.
Through a connection with Black Owl Studio I was able to work out a partnership between Stage & Black Owl. Each month Stage would compensate Black Owl Studio to provide studio time in order to produce up to an hour of high quality video and audio.

Sessions were prerecorded at Black Owl Studio using their equipment. Mixed and mastered audio files with raw video files were transferred to me in order to edit. I then would edit the video to match the audio, add the Stage sponsorship interlude breaks, add all Stage video graphics packs I had pre-made, and finally color grade the raw video tracks. This final video was then broadcast live simultaneously on Black Owl & Stage’s social media channels.

Utilizing my photography skills I would coordinate a photoshoot with each Featured Artist in order to provide them with high quality images for social media and marketing.
